When does the fourth and final phase of development at Sardinia Bay Golf & Wildlife Estate start?
Property expert Alan Moore, who has been bombarded with this question ever since the previous phase wrapped, can now tell interested buyers that it’s happening.
The 10 plots were released onto the market recently and four have already been sold – with two more placed on the reserve list.
Moore, who together with colleague Leon Erasmus has sold plots and homes at the estate from the outset, is not at all surprised how quickly the Gqeberha stands are being snapped up.
The last properties are different to the rest of the estate in that these do not rely on the golf course for their beautification.
“These are a lot wilder and more secluded and in probably one of the most beautiful sections of the estate,” Moore notes.
It is characterised by dense flora and a beautiful forest that extends right onto the beach at Sardinia Bay.
This quadrant of the 100ha property is known for attracting gemsbok and Moore has even spotted a silver-backed jackal in the brush.
Its game-reserve feel means the final phase has a slightly different appeal compared to its predecessors, he says.
The foundations of the first house are already taking shape with construction expected to be completed by March next year.
Moore, from Remax Independent in Gqeberha, adds that the buyer has been an “amazing player to work with”.
“He instinctively knew how to use this site and, together with the architect, has come up with something very exciting.”
For example, the double-storey home will feature a rather unique basement-level access point.
The client is also working with an interior designer to ensure the living space speaks to the natural surrounds. The addition of stone, wood and cladding will make the house an absolute showstopper.
Moore loves that the client is a developer himself as it gives the lifestyle estate even more credibility.

Sards’s own developer has invested in two plots as some of his South Africa-based relatives are already members of the Bay’s most sought-after gated community.
“Though he lives in America, he wants to establish a home here so they can participate in what they have created and be close to their loved ones,” Moore says.
The common thread between the four phases is that interest soars the minute there is any building activity. As people see the vision being realised, they queue up to find out more.
Interestingly, some have identified the section accommodating the final phase for their future home as far back as when ground was first broken more than a dozen years ago.
One such couple is nearing retirement and has decided the time has come to live out their dream.
“Leon and I have been waiting for this for a very long time. We’re incredibly excited,” Moore says.
